A reimagining of a mid-century waterfront home that respects the era's architectural language while bringing the home fully into the smart-home age. The project balanced two goals that often pull against each other — preserving classic mid-century character and integrating cutting-edge home technology — and extended the work outdoors with a backyard built for entertaining.

The homeowners loved the original character of their mid-century home and wanted to keep it. At the same time, they wanted modern smart-home technology integrated throughout, an updated interior layout that worked better for how they actually live, and an outdoor space that took full advantage of the waterfront site for hosting family and friends.

On the inside, we reworked the floor plan while carefully preserving the classic mid-century details that gave the home its identity, then layered in a full smart-home technology package. Outside, we transformed the backyard into a true entertaining destination, complete with a large hot tub and a volleyball court, all sited to take advantage of the waterfront views.
